A study of the association of prodigiosin, isolated from Serratia marcescens.

چکیده
The spectral characteristics of prodigiosin in the visual range and the changes occurring in them through different concentration of the substance, polarity of solvent, and temperature have been studied. The conclusion has been reached that these changes are due to the existence of two forms of the pigment: monomeric — with a maximum at 460 m/x, and dimeric — with a maximum at 530 m/u. It is assumed that in certain conditions there may exist a trimeric form of the pigment. Data are being adduced in support of that assumption.

Draft Genome Sequences of Serratia marcescens Strains CAPREx SY13 and CAPREx SY21 Isolated from Yams
Serratia marcescens strains CAPREx SY13 and CAPREx SY21 were isolated from Ghanaian yams from a London market. The draft genomes suggest that the strains are similar, with genomes of 5,308,004 and 5,157,134 bp and 59.35 and 59.62 G+C%, respectively. The genes necessary for prodigiosin biosynthesis were present in both strains.
متن کاملTreatment with 2-methyl- 3-pentyl-6-methoxyprodiginine isolated from serracia marcescens decreases cell viability and induces appoptosis in acute lymphoblaastic leukemia cells
Background & Aims: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common malignancies in the world. Despite advances in treatment of patients with ALL, a subset of patients will have recurrent disease or refractory to chemotherapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Consequently, assessment of the effectiveness of natural compounds with high efficacy and minimal side effects is warranted. I...
متن کاملEnhanced production of prodigiosin by Serratia marcescens MO-1 using ram horn peptone
This work addresses the production of prodigiosin from ram horn peptone (RHP) using MO-1, a local isolate in submerged culture. First, a novel gram-negative and rod-shaped bacterial strain, MO-1, was isolated from the body of the grasshopper (Poecilemon tauricola Ramme 1951), which was collected from pesticide-contaminated fields. Sequence analysis of 16S rDNA classified the microbe as Serratia...
متن کاملProdigiosin production by Serratia marcescens UCP 1549 using renewable-resources as a low cost substrate.
A new strain of Serratia marcescens UCP1459 isolated from a semi-arid soil produced the natural red pigment prodigiosin, characterized by an uncommon pyrrolylpyrromethane skeleton. Prodigiosin is a promising drug due to its reported antifungal, immunosuppressive and anti-proliferative activities. The objective of this work was to indentify a suitable medium to simultaneously enhance S. marcesce...
متن کاملReview of Prodigiosin, Pigmentation in Serratia marcescens
Prodigiosins, a family of natural red pigments characterized by a common pyrrolylpyrromethane skeleton, are produced by various bacteria that first characterized from Serratia marcescens. This pigment is a promising drug owing to its reported characteristics of having antifungal, immunosuppressive and anti-proliferative activity. From an industrial point of view to obtain optimal conditions to ...
